The frame of the Mercredi 12 consists of a single hydroformed aluminium bar of variable thickness, like some of the top class adult bikes. In this process, the bar is placed in a shape that defines the outer shape. Then water is injected under high pressure and the bar is formed with high precision. After welding, the 6061 series aluminium frame undergoes two heat treatments. A T4 treatment to uniform the structure is followed by a T6 treatment to increase the resistance. This makes the frame and fork extremely light.
The fork is, just like the frame, one-sided and made of 6061 T4 T6 aluminium. Thanks to this one-sided fork, there are fewer branches between the spokes that can block the wheel. Firstly, it's safer and also makes for a pretty cool style.
The cantilevered hubs are the same as those used for adult wheelchairs and therefore have a high load capacity. The ends are protected by rounded aluminium lock nuts. The rims are made of aluminium and the tyres have a versatile tread pattern.
The stem was specially designed for this bike. Nothing sticks out: No protruding angle. The only fixing screw is integrated. It compresses an adjacent buffer that blocks the handlebar and fork swivel at the same time.
The saddle is ergonomic and specially designed for children's bicycles. The cover is non-slip for better control over the bike. It can be adjusted in height from 34 to 41 cm and is suitable for children from 20 months to approx. 4 years.
The handlebar is raised and fully wrapped with handlebar tape for maximum comfort and protection.
